My first day of work: Quite relaxing actually, cos dunno why the pharmacy is very quiet today.

Did a few things:

* Was assigned to take care of 21st Century vitamins. Tt means stocktaking, ordering, cleaning the shelves, blah blah blah. For the first time, i realised tt there is really a WIDE range of pdts available. Just health supplements alone take up about 8 wall units and 2 gondola(not counting those for organic). I hope no one will approach me for recommendations yet. at least give me a few weeks to rmb all the pdts...

* Learnt abt form E, invoices, IBT, packing medication etc. Also had a short lecture on corns, callus and warts ^^ actually there are a lot of medications and minor ailments tt we didn't learn in uni. The stuff tt they teach is really limited. And a lot are just theories, which the pharmacists dun really practise cos there is little clinical significance.

* Had my first homework from my preceptor. Also had my first test. We were asked to locate a couple of pdts, which we eventually managed to find, after she told us what the product was used for. haiz, my knowledge of the brand names is so lacking.

* Meet Selina, yr 3, who was doing part-time while waiting for her hospital preceptorship in batch 2. Hmm...may consider doing part-time for the rest of my hols. I don't think 6 wks is enough to learn everything, even though we will be overworking (clocking an ave of 42h a week when we are only expected to work 40h a week)

* Was quite relieved to hear from Selina that it's highly unlikely tt we will encounter any drug addicts, cos my preceptor decided to play safe and not carry any codeine syrup. Wise choice =)

* I have absolutely no idea why pharmacists are always treated like cashiers, even with our white coats and the big "Pharmacy" sign. I'd lost count how many times we have to direct the customers to the correct place.

* Had one customer coming into the shop and comment "oh..so this is not watsons arh?" duh...the colour scheme of the shop is not even correct lar.

* Was told by my preceptor to patrol the shop whenever i'm free to prevent theft, which seems be a common thing in pharmacies. The thieves always take the stuff inside and just leave the empty boxes behind. Tt's why my preceptor only display the empty boxes of the expensive items. but tt also generates prob. Heard of cases where customers bought the empty boxes cos they didn't see the "this box is empty" sign. lol. They must have had a nasty shock when they found out tt they spent so much money to buy a box with nth inside...
